HBF Future Talent Conference 2026 - Building sustainable futures in home building

The Home Builders Federation’s Future Talent Conference returns on 26 February 2026 at the Studio Birmingham, in a one-day format.
The event brings together industry’s ambitious early talent – including trainees, graduates and degree apprentices – for a packed day of insight and activities to support them in their careers.
The interactive conference programme features a mix of workshops, panel discussions and perspectives from leading industry experts.
Attendees will deepen their understanding of key challenges and opportunities facing the industry and enjoy a platform to engage with industry peers outside of their day-to-day roles.

Importance of good local engagement
Millie Dodd – Shared Voice
How do you make sure that your messages are being communicated in the right way, to the right audience? Join Millie Dodd from Shared Voice in an interactive workshop to explore how good engagement means going beyond those who shout the loudest about new homes in their area, and giving a voice to those not usually reached in the planning process.
Local Plans- policies and procedures
Rachel Danemann - HBF
This interactive workshop explores how and why developers submit representations on Local Plans. It will explore the numerous topics we engage with, and the impact of Local Plan policies on development viability and deliverability. You will learn about how representations help to shape policy and what happens at Examination in Public.
Building Regulations and House type Portfolio’s’
Rhodri Williams – HBF
This workshop will provide an overview on all building regulations A-T, what they are, what they mean and how they work relative to house type portfolios. Part L FHS is a big and relevant change and the workshop will consider how the industry will meet the new requirements and what the benefits are to both homeowners and house builders It will also set out what the journey has been like for Group Technical departments as they navigate these ever changing technical and construction specifications.
Networking reception
The conference will conclude with a networking reception, so delegates can build valuable connections and grow their professional networks.
All delegates are welcome to stay for the networking reception which is due to finish at approximately 5.30PM
