The 2026 HBF Technical Conference returns to Austin Court, in Birmingham on the 10 September.

The must-attend event for technical professionals within the home building industry

With the Future Homes Standard now published and new standards and environmental demands impacting the industry, the HBF Technical Conference will examine the details of what are significant changes to the technical demands on housebuilders.

As well as expert plenary speakers addressing the audience on key issues, this year’s conference will also see two panel discussions take place on both the Future Homes Standard and on Water Challenges. There will also be a focus on energy issues and the Building Safety agenda.

As ever, the HBF Technical Conference provides a platform for technical professionals to explore the key issues and look ahead to upcoming changes in regulations and standards.

This is a full day conference, approximate timings are 9.00am registration, 10am start and 4.30pm close, followed by a drinks reception. Please note these timings are approximate and are subject to change.

Future Homes Standard

With the launch of the Future Homes Standard in March, attendee’s will hear from Taylor Wimpey on their key learnings on delivering homes to the new standards as well as work being undertaken by the Future Homes Hub. Eco 2 Solar will share their insights on micro generation and how this important change in building technology will affect the next generation of home building in the UK.

Water Challenges

The event will include a panel session on the increasing issues around water resource and demand, sustainable drainage, and key requirements with regards to regulations and standards. Attendees will hear from Wavin, Brookbanks, Water Regs UK as well as the Housing and Finance Institute.

The panel will discuss the challenges to developers arising from this important issue.
