Affordable rent risks

The affordable rent policy could bring wide ranging risks to housing delivery, analysis by Hometrack has revealed. “The analysis shows that the affordable rent policy has the potential to deliver similar volumes of affordable homes as in the past but there are a range of risks,” commented director of research Richard Donnell. “Not least is the ability of housing associations to access funding to support new investment and the actual capacity of the sector to fund this investment.” Another key finding was that the policy could be the most effective in locations with the largest gap between social rents and open market rents. <br>
