Construction industry will benefit from Battersea site job centre

The redevelopment of the Battersea Power Station on the south bank of The Thames is expected to create 3,000 construction jobs, and secretary of state for work and pensions David Blunkett has opened an employment centre at the site in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and Wandsworth council. Parkview’s £1 billion plans for the 15ha (38acre) site will see it redeveloped as a mixed use community incorporating around 700 homes along with hotels, offices and an entertainment complex, including a 2,000-seat auditorium.
