Crest’s sales up on eve of new range launch

<p>Crest Nicholson has furthered its moves into the affordable housing sector, with news that it is seeking approvals from a number of local authorities to build the first 900 of its new adaptable family homes.</p> <p>The firm’s new “flat pack”Homes for Life range features core modules produced using modern methods of construction, which can easily be added to and reconfigured to create numerous dwelling types and sizes at an affordable price.</p> <p>“Family homes are the top of our priority list. We’re looking at intermediate densities – three to four stories,” said Crest chief executive Stephen Stone. “Developing our SixtyK homes range through the design for manufacture competition gave us some really interesting ideas that we would like to see rolled out.</p> <p>“Design is our main driver, and we’re using modern methods of construction to bring in efficiencies. MMC techniques also give us the chance to elevate homes in keeping with the local vernacular style, which fits with the Crest ethos.”</p> <p>Crest’s interim results to April 30 show a drop in its average selling price from £208,000 to £188,000 as it increases its focus on the affordable end of the market.
