Developers’profits a priority for Callcutt’s housing delivery review

<p>John Callcutt has sought to assure developers that their profitability will be foremost in his mind, as he launches a review of housing delivery following an invitation from communities secretary Ruth Kelly. The former Crest Nicholson and English Partnerships chief executive has been charged with leading the review into “housing delivery in a low carbon environment,” investigating issues such as: </p> information used to determine dwelling mix and prices reasons for market failure and failure to respond to demand reducing or removing barriers to competition, and the impact of the code for sustainable homes. <p>He has called on the industry to submit evidence by April 20, giving him just over a month to collect responses before reporting to government in autumn. Callcutt told Housebuilder: “We will only meet the UK’s housing objectives by having a strong, vibrant and profitable industry. I am very much aware of that and I think it is important to make the point that we want the people and companies who deliver on these objectives to grow and to be successful.
