Help to Buy Wales extended

The Welsh government has extended its Help to Buy scheme to March 31 2027.

In a Written Ministerial Statement, Siân Gwenllian MS, cabinet minister for local government, housing and planning, announced a six-month extension of the home ownership initiative, writing that the change would help up to 400 additional households across Wales purchase a new build home with a smaller deposit.

Gwenllian stated: “It is important that homeownership is a reality for those who wish to, particularly for first time buyers. I also want to do everything I can to continue protecting those who face the greatest challenges from ongoing cost-of-living increases, keeping them safe in their own homes.”

On the latter statement, the Welsh government has also extended the Help to Stay Wales scheme to March 31 2027 to continue to aid those experiencing mortgage difficulties.

And it has extended the Empty Homes Grant by six months to enable up to a further 300 properties to be renovated and “made into safe, energy efficient homes”.
