Homebuyers to be offered pigs

Jeremy Paxton, property developer and owner of the Lower Mill Estate near Cirencester, is offering buyers a free pig with every new home. The Gloucester Old Spots are one of the oldest pedigree breeds in the world. Buyers get the choice of keeping their pig as a pet, which may grow to up to 15 stone, or having it kept on a farm on the estate. Two buyers have already taken up the offer that runs to the end of September. A spokesman for Mr Paxton said the pigs would be fully trained before being handed over to their new owners. He added: “You don’t have to keep it in your house, of course. You can name it, visit it on the farm and then of course enjoy bacon or sausages when they get a bit older.” The Lower Mill Estate is being marketed as a place for holiday retreats and second homes. Around 80 homes are being offered from £295,000 to £2 million.
