The Big Yellow Group, a specialist self-storage company, has blamed the housing slowdown for its poor performance. The company feels the knock on effect of a poor housing market because more than half its customers are moving house. The number of homes changing hands has been running at 30% less than a year ago. Nick Vetch, Big Yellow Group chairman, said: “We didn’t have a very good April. It is not easy to see if it is a one-off or whether we will have a pick-up in May or June, so it is better to veer on the side of caution.” (FT)
