Housebuilder backs initiative to promote new product innovation

Feb. 1, 2010
Housebuilder is joining forces with the Home Builders Federation and the Construction Products Association on this year’s Innovate for Homes initiative. Innovate for Homes aims to identify products that are either new or not widely used but which provide solutions for housebuilders. Entries are reviewed by HBF and CPA and the best go forward to a Dragons’ Den-style panel comprising leading housebuilders. The best of these will be featured in Housebuilder and given free entry to the Best Product category of The Housebuilder Awards. Entries to Innovate for Homes are assessed on four main criteria – energy saving; sustainability; best value; and health and safety. “Manufacturers of products that get to the panel get the benefit of the advice and feedback of the panel members as well as the chance to show their product to key housebuilders,” says HBF technical director Dave Mitchell. “They have half an hour in front of the panel, of which we recommend they take 15 minutes to present and 15 minutes to discuss their product with experts in the room.” Entries are open now. To enter, download a form on the HBF website (<a href="http://www.hbf.co.uk/">www.hbf.co.uk</a>) under Policy &amp; Activities – Technical. <br>
