Lime Street regeneration to create new gateway to Liverpool

Plans for the transformation of Liverpool’s Lime Street station precinct into a stunning new gateway to the city have been approved by Liverpool City Council. The regeneration plans – drawn up by English Partnerships and development partner Iliad on behalf of the Lime Street Gateway Partnership – involve the demolition of existing shops at the front of the station to expose its Victorian arched gable-end, the construction of a landmark 28-storey mixed use tower with shops and cafes at its base, and the creation of new public open space at the front of the station. Work is expected to start on site in autumn 2006.
