New home registrations highest since Nov 2007

New home registrations in March were at their highest monthly since November 2007, latest NHBC stats have revealed. <br> <br> There were 7,980 private sector registrations recorded in March, the highest number since April 2008. Public sector registrations rose 34% annually to 5,327. Overall, figures were up 49% on February’s results. <br> <br> “While a large proportion of registrations were driven by plans at the Athlete’s Village, housing analysts have reported better than expected growth in housebuilding and our figures for March certainly reflect this positivity,” commented NHBC’s ceo Imtiaz Farookhi. <br> <br> Meanwhile, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors reported an overall flat housing market in March, with 23% more chartered surveyors reporting a fall rather than a rise in UK house prices, compared to 26% more in February.<br> <br>
