Reform land use – Miliband

Environment secretary David Miliband has called for a “more proactive approach to land use,” to “create a country where we get more economic, social and environmental value from our land” through planning system reform. Calling for land to be seen as “green infrastructure,”he said: “Our landscape must adapt to the challenges of a more crowded country – a country facing major pressures on housing and infrastructure.” Miliband revealed that the planning white paper, now expected in June, would look at ways of improving the system’s ability to cope with these new pressure
