Four finalists in competition for the ODPM’s Award for Sustainable Communities are awaiting the announcement at the government’s Sustainable Communities Summit in Manchester on February 1. The shortlisted schemes are the new residential community Chatham Maritime and Historic Dockyard in Kent; the Joining Up scheme to improve Northumberland Park in Tottenham, London; a renewal project at the Grange Park Estate in Blackpool, and a five-year Urban and Rural Renaissance programme in County Durham. “The nominations showed great diversity and demonstrated just how actively the Sustainable Communities agenda is being delivered on the ground across the county,” said John Prescott. “There are plenty of lessons for everyone to learn.”
