As part of a research project part-funded by the Technology Strategy Board, TRADA Technology has worked with Excel Industries to further develop the manufacturer’s Warmcel insulation. <br> <br> Warmcel is a loose-fill, cellulose-fibre product based on recycled paper. The new formulation incorporates a proportion of MDF fibre, which, says TRADA Technology’s Miles Brown, “has the advantage of reducing fill density and increasing stability without compromising thermal performance, as demonstrated by our test programme. The enhanced product therefore opens up opportunities for off-site manufacture, as factory-filled panels using the MDF formulation pose a lower risk of settlement as a result of handling, transport and on-site assembly.”<br> <br>
