Wales NewBuy to launch in spring

NewBuy, the mortgage indemnity scheme, will be rolled out in Wales next spring.<br> <br> The Welsh government announced the three-year scheme in partnership with housebuilders which will be available to first time buyers across Wales and in areas of "housing pressure" in the country.<br> <br> Similar to NewBuy in England, the government and housebuilders will be guarantors on the 95% LTV mortgage scheme, with the government providing a £27 million guarantee. This could mean an investment in housing of up to £500 million over the period, applying to up to 3,000 new build homes up to a value of £250,000.<br> <br> The Home Builders Federation (HBF) is working with the Welsh government and the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) to develop the scheme.<br> <br> Huw Lewis, the Welsh government's housing regeneration and heritage minister, said: "This innovative scheme is excellent news for potential house buyers, the housing industry and the wider economy. It is part of the whole housing system approach which I outlined in my Housing White Paper."
