Proposed changes to the Building Regulations will cost the housebuilding industry £103 million a year - but the government will seek to save that amount through deregulation to compensate and to keep its promise to reduce red tape.<br> <br> Speaking at Housebuilder's Building Regulations seminar last month (March), Anthony Burd of DCLG said: "We will find regulation 'outs' to save that amount of money and if we don't the proposals will change, we promise that." Changes to the Building Regulations are out for consultation until April 27 with the new rules set to be introduced in October 2013, having been published six months earlier.
