Acceleration of housing plans in key areas

<b></b>Existing proposals for significant housing growth in four key areas - Thames Gateway, Ashford in Kent, Milton Keynes and the M11 corridor - are to be accelerated, the Deputy Prime Minister announced. &amp;“We estimate that at least 200,000 new homes could be created in these growth areas,&amp;” he said. &amp;“I will work with regional and local partners in each of the four areas to establish where, at what scale, and how quickly growth can be achieved.&amp;”<br><b>Thames Gateway will be singled out for particularly rapid investment. </b><br><b>But local government minister Nick Raynsford stressed the importance of a &amp;“properly integrated approach to development to include transport, a social structure, schools and houses. We must build successful communities.&amp;” </b><br>
