<p>The seventh annual Housing Market Intelligence conference will focus on Rebuilding the housing market and will help delegates to prepare their businesses to take advantage of the upturn. As ever the incumbent housing minister, John Healey, has been invited to speak , but – reflecting the present mood – Conservative housing spokesman Grant Shapps will also give an important alternative perspective. Sir Bob Kerslake, Homes and Communities Agency ceo and arguably the most important man in housebuilding today, will be speaking, laying out his plans on how the HCA will work with housebuilders to increase new homes delivery. </p> <p>HBF economics director John Stewart’s presentation is always well received and this year he will be looking at Preparing for the recovery while Richard Donnell of Hometrack will provide his comprehensive and detailed perspective on the market. And crucially HMI will look at the regulation burden and its impact on the industry. There is real concern that the burden of regulation is making new home building unviable. But, following industry lobbying, the government has recognised this, stating in the Budget that it will work with industry to identify “the best regulatory and policy framework to support the government’s long term housing …
