Barratt is opening a new division in the East region. The new Cambridgeshire division is being launched following strong land acquisition in the area and will be dual branded, selling both Barratt and David Wilson homes (BDW).
BDW Cambridgeshire already has terms agreed on land for more than 1,000 units and will be creating around 50 new jobs over the next three years with more supported in the supply chain and through local subcontractors.
The division will be based in Peterborough and open this year focusing on markets in areas highlighted by the National Infrastructure Commission’s Report Partnering for Prosperity. The report identified opportunities to create “well-designed, well-connected new communities” for the Cambridge – Milton Keynes – Oxford Arc.
In addition, in London, Barratt is combining its Aldgate and Stratford teams into a new bigger Barratt East London division which has agreed terms to move into new offices on the Olympic Park. Barratt’s Brentford division will be rebranded as Barratt West London.
David Thomas, Barratt chief executive, said: “The strong market we are seeing across the country, good consumer demand combining with an improving planning environment and supportive government policy, gives us the confidence to continue to expand our business.
