<b><b>The latest results of Housebuilder&amp;’s survey of regional planning applications reveals the totals for the whole of 2001. Barratt had a storming year, Miller is making its presence felt and there is a surprise arrival in the North. Steve Menary reports </b></b><br> Barratt appears unconcerned by the prospects of the south east housing market overheating according to the latest quarterly survey of &amp;“who&amp;’s planning to build where&amp;” from Emap Glenigan.<p></p><p><b><b>South eastern gold</b></b><br> The <i>Housebuilder</i> survey covers planning applications for 10 or more units in the year to December 2001 and Barratt made more submissions in the South East than in any other region.</p><p>The Newcastle-based firm cemented its place at the top of the South East top 10 by actually increasing the amount of units the firm has applied to build over the last quarter.</p><p>Barratt made 49 applications in 2001 to build a total of 3,649 units in the South East, the region generally regarded as gold-rush territory for housebuilders.</p><p>Berkeley, Persimmon and David Wilson, among others, increased their rolling totals but several housebuilders - including Wimpey, Taywood, Wilcon and Bovis saw drops in their figures in the South East compared with last quarter&amp;’s figures .</p><p>Barratt is also increasing its application programme …
