<b><b>The kitchen - still so influential in wooing the new home customer. Andrew Leech finds that a recent survey reveals that people want light woods, cream colours and they love stainless steel. Are you geared up?</b></b><br><b>For a concept that has survived more than two centuries, the Shaker&’s designs for tables, desks and cupboards with smoothly-fitted drawers, has never been bettered. In fact, the simple lines, stunning woods and modest colours are dominating modern kitchens even more than ever. It seems that every furniture manufacturer has a Shaker design in its portfolio.</b><br><b><b>minimalist trend</b></b><br> Chris Pavey, sales director of Spacemaker, says: &“Furniture trends are for minimalism with less routing patterns, so you tend to get either a Shaker door style or a square shape with a central panel. We find this is extremely popular.&”<p></p><p>Shaker aside, kitchens have their fashions and in recent years these appear to have been greatly influenced by the surfeit of TV makeover programmes.
