Ex-Barratt boss Gary Ennis becomes untypical’s ceo

untypical has appointed Gary Ennis as its chief executive, effective from today (December 8). He is the first ceo of the business since it launched last year.

Ennis comes to head the housebuilding group, consisting of Hopkins Homes and Tilia Homes, after almost 30 years at Barratt Developments where he held a number of senior roles. Most recently, he was regional managing director for London and the South East.

untypical noted Ennis’ track record of operational delivery, strategic clarity and building high performing teams. As ceo of the group, he will direct its strategy and progress untypical’s ambition to be “the UK’s most customer-centric housebuilder, delivering exceptional homes for customers and communities”.

untypical was launched in October 2024 from the union of Hopkins and Tilia, with the group managed by European investment firm Terra Firma.
