Fairclough acquisition prompts Miller restructure

Miller Homes is undergoing a nationwide restructure following its £264 million acquisition of Fairclough in September 2005. Miller is retaining Fairclough regional md Nick Smith to head the company’s operation in the north west, Steve Birch, also of Fairclough, will lead the Yorkshire region. Richard Sarraff has also been retained as md of northern home counties – a new region for Miller following the Fairclough acquisition. Internal promotions include Rob Hepwood stepping up to director and general manager of the west midlands region. Tim Hough, chief executive says he aims to increase housing completion to over 4,000 against 2,505 achieved in 2004. This will raise Miller Homes’ turnover to around £0.7 billion in 2006. Hough said: “We have merged Fairclough with Miller in the regions in which they both operated to enable us to compete with other large housebuilders in the area. The integration of the company has led to greater opportunities for people. We now have nine regions, three of which are headed by ex Fairclough people."
