Housebuilders stand to benefit from the latest high efficiency boilers and underfloor heating systems, while contemporary fireplace styles are keeping younger buyers sweet</b><br><b>Two years ago Housebuilder quoted a manufacturer saying combi boilers were &“still failing to deliver the hot water performance needed to meet peak demands of homes&”. Things have changed. </b><br> Last year Chaffoteaux and Maury (C&&M) launched its Calydra Comfort combi-boiler incorporating a five litre mini-storage cylinder in which water is maintained at a constant temperature by a 3kW re-heating coil. The system can deliver hot water immediately at 17 litres/minute, and eliminates &“warm-up&” time, which conserves gas and water. C&&M marketing manager Neil Mattock says: &“Housebuilders and therefore homebuyers are offered, for a cost close to a combi offering instantaneous hot water, the additional comforts of stored hot water.&”</p><p> Glow-worm&’s new &‘Plus&’ version of its 30ci 30kW fully modulating combi-boiler claims a five-second hot water response time and has vertical, horizontal and twin flue options.
