Government confirms zero carbon policy

The government has given the industry greater clarity on its zero carbon homes policy. <br> <br> Housing minister Grant Shapps confirmed that the proposed fabric energy efficiency standard as featured in the Code of Sustainable Homes consultation would be adopted in future Building Regulations. <br> <br> He said the government would explore the idea of a community energy fund where developers would make payments to support local energy schemes as part of allowable solutions. <br> <br> Shapps also announced that the Zero Carbon Hub would be given £600,000 to continue its work on zero carbon homes this year. The Hub has been asked to test what would be an appropriate level for a carbon compliance requirement for onsite measures. <br> <br> HBF welcomed the new details, but warned that work on carbon compliance and local energy solutions “must provide affordable answers and reduce risk.”<br> <br>
