Three children: son (19) and daughters aged 16 and 9<p></p><p><b><b>First job ever?</b></b><br> After leaving Charterhouse, I worked in a ski resort for a year. At 19 I joined the Royal Marines, where I was a commissioned officer until 1982. From 1982 until 1987 I worked for the Ministry of Defence in London, attached to M15</p><p><b><b>First job in the industry?</b></b><br> I worked to a shift system at M15, so my moonlighting job was doing up three or four flats at any one time: arranging the plumbing and electrics, while I did all the decorating. When I left M15, Sally and I ran a company based on a little box advertisement in London Portrait Magazine, which cost &amp;£120 a month and said &amp;“Design to a Budget&amp;”.
