<b>Andy Yallop, 55, managing director of Croudace, reveals a soft spot for sports cars and West Ham, but predicts a backlash against high densities and a sticky end if we go into the Euro</b><br><b>Married Family?</b><br> Married to Judy, with two sons and two daughters aged 16-26. Oldest son works for Croudace as a land buyer.<p></p><p><b><b>First job ever?</b></b><br> Cleaning the cooling tower at Vauxhall Motors plant in Luton, a casual job which I did after school before studying civil engineering at a college now called the University of Hertfordshire.</p><p><b><b>First job in housebuilding?</b></b><br> Joining Croudace as manager of the engineering side - responsible for all engineering design, architectural design, planning applications and planning appeals from 1982 onwards. </p><p><b><b>Favourite project and why?</b></b><br> Probably the conversion of the Royal West Sussex Hospital in Chichester, West Sussex, which turned the old building into apartments and added 60 new-build homes in the grounds. It was interesting to tackle something completely different, with so much detail that even the way we handled 150-year old wisteria became important. We built the new houses first, and apartments finished in 2000 sold from &amp;£225,000 upwards.</p><p><b><b>Your biggest mistake?</b></b><br> From a personal point of view, I stayed too long with Balfours in …
