Pickles to address industry at March conference

Communities secretary Eric Pickles has confirmed that he will address the housebuilding industry at the 2011 HBF Policy conference. <br> <br> Pickles, who is seen as the architect of Localism, is expected to tell the industry how he and the government see the provision of new homes under the new Localism Bill and answer questions on the challenges ahead. <br> <br> The communities secretary tops a powerful line up that also includes Monetary Policy Committee member Professor David Miles, CBI director general John Cridland and Lloyds commercial director of mortgages Stephen Noakes. <br> <br> Cridland, in one of his first speeches in his new role as CBI director general, will discuss the business environment in which the industry is now operating, while Professor Miles will bring both his insight from the MPC and his expertise in the mortgage market which he examined for the previous government. <br> <br> The conference will be held at Savoy Place in London on Thursday March 31. As well as focusing on the Localism agenda and solutions to the challenges of the mortgage market, it will also examine the affordable housing situation and the progress towards zero carbon.
