<b>The Walrus pays a festive visit to Santa Claus to see what housebuilders can learn from his ostensibly efficient operation</b><br><b>Just like us, Santa is moving towards his critical year-end period. Like us, he shifts a disproportionate amount of his product in December and again, like us, he has all of his little helpers on bonuses to ensure that the good little boys and girls who still believe in him are not disappointed on the big day.</b><br> Unlike us however, he does not have the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) breathing down his neck. The reason for this appears to be that he always makes sure that he does not make his final deliveries until he is certain that his little helpers have finished the job properly.<p></p><p> This says much about the superiority of his quality control systems and customer care philosophy. And explains also why so many people still believe in him, despite the fact that advances in flue technology over the past 30 years must surely have caused him some very serious access and egress problems.</p><p> In fact, I heard that Santa joined HBF&amp;’s Building Regulations Part J Working Party and made representations to ODPM about the difficulties presented …
