<b><b>When Persimmon took over Beazer last year, Beazer Homes&amp;’ managing director Nick Smith left and took the summer off. He came back with a new idea and a novel name. Ben Roskrow reports on the emergence of CDC2020</b></b><br><b>&amp;“And the winner is... CDC2020.&amp;” Nick Smith likes the sound of this - not only the &amp;“winner&amp;” bit, but the resonance of the new name. It&amp;’s time, he says, for a housebuilding company name that reflects the new outlook of the industry. &amp;“I really did not want to call the company Nick Smith Homes or Cherry Tree Homes - I think those days have gone,&amp;” he says. </b><br><b><b>name game</b></b><br> What&amp;’s in a name? Not much without the backing of a strong team with big ideas and a masterplan and Smith thinks he has got that. &amp;“On our website we call CDC2020 &amp;‘a modern company for a modern age&amp;’ and this is what we are,&amp;” he says. &amp;“Times have changed.
