<p>A 34ha site on the Ashton Canal in East Manchester is to be transformed into the “world’s first ‘uburb.” An EDAW-led team of architects, planners and developers is working up a scheme for the Holt Town Waterfront, which will provide family homes and “combine the convenience and buzz of the city centre with the amenities and space of the suburbs.”</p> <p>“We are revolutionising the housing on offer in Manchester, by developing new house designs and spaces that give families what they want in the heart of the original modern city,” said Mick Timpson, design director at EDAW’s Manchester studio.</p>
